March 12, 2010 By: Kamrul Category: Bollywood

The singer turned actress Shruti Haasan is going to act in a southern Indian dialect of Telugu film which will be made by US production house Walt Disney. Shruti Haasan, the daughter of famous actor Kamal Haasan, will act against Siddharth in this high-budget film. Other stars are Lakshmi Manchu and Harshitha. It was directed by veteran film maker and National Award winner Prakash Rao Kovelamudi. Shooting of this film started in November. It is scheduled to be release in January 2011. Bad time for Bollywood is coming?

March 12, 2010 By: Kamrul Category: Bollywood

The growing popularity of Indian Premier League is perhaps a bad thing for Hindi movie industry. You may ask me why. The answer is very simple. During the time of 45-day tournament, Bollywood has to pass a tough time. When IPL runs then people lost their interest to see any movie in a big screen. However, it is not strange thing because Indian people are known as cricket crazy. They love cricket more than anything. March is considered as dry time for the film industry because IPL starts in the month of March. In this month no Hindi movie earns low revenue. Even big budget movie has to struggle hard to attract audience in a theatre. Another bad thing for film makers and producers is that for the first time in India IPL matches will be screened in 800 big screens. This decision has come as adding more salt to the wounds. Let us see how film industry exists during that time.

Police have arrested 5 suspected people for Hema Malini’s robbery case

March 10, 2010 By: Kamrul Category: Bollywood

Few days ago, I wrote a news about the robbery from Bollywood actress and politician Hema Malini’s residence, Burglary, in Goregaon East. Robbers steal many things from her house including cash and jewellery which have cash value of Rs. 8 million.

However, the good news is that Mumbai police arrested five people as the suspicion of this robbery case from residential complex, Nensey Colony in Borivli East which is 10 km north of Hema Malini’s residence. According to Joint Police Commissioner, Rakesh Maria, it is revealed that police have recovered around Rs. one million worth of jewellery from the home of one of the accused robbers and Rs.93,000 cash from the others.

Rakesh Maria said:

According to Maria, police had got a tip-off that a gang of robbers was likely to commit a robbery in the area and the sleuths lay in wait for them Monday morning.

Around 10.30 a.m., the gang arrived at a building near the ST Bus Depot and walked into the police trap, he said.

A search of the accused led to the recovery of some weapons.

This gang of robbers was planning to rob in this area for long time. However, they got the chance to rob Hema Malini’s house on Monday morning and they successfully looted jewellery and cash.

I think Hema Malini will be happy to get return her stolen things and give thanks to Indian police for their brave work.

Deepika Padukone is opposite to Kareena Kapoor’s size zero figure

March 09, 2010 By: Kamrul Category: Bollywood, Deepika Padukone

Where most of the actresses are following Kareena Kapoor’s foot steps to make zero size figure there Deepika Padukone is just showing opposite mentality. In a statement she says that she does not believe in size zero. She also says that this type of figure does not mean Indian body. That does not mean she wanted to get some media publicity with an argumentative statement. She is already blessed with good figure. Deepika Padukone, who was the show stopper for designer duo Shantanu & Nikhil’s show at the Lakme Fashion Week on Sunday, said:

“Correct me if I am wrong, but I personally feel that the Indian body type is not cut out to be size zero. I am not size zero and I don’t believe in that either,”

Deepika Padukone also said that an actress gets a role for her performance not the body type.

It is true that creativity gets much importance than body shape when it comes to select an actress for a particular character. At the same time, I also have to say that if any actress put some weight then she has less possibility to get chance in a film to act in a lead role. One important thing has been revealed by her is that getting contribution through performance is much important then body shape.

Bollywood stealing from Hollywood which is deficit matter for Hindi movie lovers

March 05, 2010 By: Kamrul Category: Bollywood

We can hear a common accusation about Bollywood movie industry is that they copy from Hollywood. It is really a deceitful matter for Hindi movie lovers because they do not want to hear that they are stealing from Hollywood. However, if you look at the Bollywood movie industry then you can see that most of the time they depend on a script that was copied from a famous English movie. It is really pathetic. Amitabh Bachchan starrer “Teen Patti” and Farhan Akhtar starrer ‘Karthik calling Karthik’ was the best example for this accusation.

Another big problem is that movie director and producers still depend on old faces that fans are not interested to see anymore. Repeating old faces is really disgusting matter. I hope that they should look for young stars who can make new trend in Bollywood. Despite the politicians announcing the 21st century as a decade of the youth we can see the repeat of the old face in Hindi movies.

However, movies like ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Ishqiya’ were exception. I hope that each of the movie producers and directors will follow these traditions and take India at the top position.

Katrina Kaif is the rival opponent for Aishwarya Rai

March 04, 2010 By: Kamrul Category: Aishwarya Rai, Bollywood, Katrina Kaif

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif is perhaps going to be one of the biggest competitors for former Miss World Aishwarya Rai. You may ask me how is possible if these two actresses have never seen each other face to face and not even talk anything negative against each other. It is possible because it is said that Katrina Kaif is replacing Aishwarya Rai in every endorsement where Aishwarya Rai used to work. Recently, this young and talented actress has caught the media attention after becoming the latest brand ambassador of Lux. Now, she is the latest Lux diva in Bollywood. From now she will be seen in Lux ad. No doubt, this thing will create bitter feeling in the mind of Aishwarya Rai. In Nakshatra diamonds endorsement deal, we saw Katrina Kaif replacing Aishwarya Rai as a new face.

There are many reasons to show interest about Katrina Kaif. Aishwarya Rai was not a good actress either and she has become aged. May be, teenage people do not like to see her anymore. On the other hand, Katrina Kaif made hot and sexy image to her fans and she has already given many hit movies. Last year, Katrina Kaif became one of the most searched topics on internet in India. So, it is natural large company owners will show interest about her.

However, I think that bad time for Aishwarya Rai is coming. This Bollywood beauty will give more important for family work.

Katrina Kaif will replace Aishwarya Rai as a the brand ambassador of Lux soap

March 02, 2010 By: Kamrul Category: Aishwarya Rai, Katrina Kaif

It is thought that the relationship between Aishwarya Bachchan and Katrina Kaif was not good ever. Even media made them rival until these two actresses saw each other. The interesting thing is that nothing has happened yet between them. The reason of their rivalry is that they have link with one of the top Bollywood actors Salman Khan. Everybody knows the relationship between Salman and Aishwarya. But now it is past. The present girlfriend of Salman Khan is Katrina Kaif.

This time they both caught media coverage not for Salman Khan but for an endorsement. We were accustomed to see Aishwarya Rai in Lux ad. However, in the near future we can see Katrina Kaif to replace this former miss world. The reason is that Katrina Kaif has been signed as the brand ambassador of the prestigious Lux soap. So, we can see her endorsing in Lux Purple Lotus & Cream.

DevD is the big surprise in the 55th Filmfare Awards

March 01, 2010 By: Kamrul Category: Bollywood

Aamir Khan starrer “3 Idiots” caught the attraction of the 55th Filmfare Awards after getting six awards including best best film award. However, there was another film, titled “DevD”, which made surprise after getting same amount of awards this year. It is really interesting to see that a mainstream and offbeat cinema has an equal impact to the audience.

The story of DevD was taken from Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s classic Bengali novel Devdas. Two female characters acted against Abhay Deol in this movie. Both Mahie Gill Gill and Kalki Koechlin were nominated for Filmfare awards. Kalki Koechlin won the best supporting actress. On the other hand, Mahie Gill won the critics award. Anurag Kashyap directed this film. This film also won best production design, best cinematography and best background score for Amit Trivedi. Amit Trivedi also picked up the R D Burman Award for New Music Talent.

I hope that Bollywood directors and stars will not follow others tradition and will be inspired to make more movies that shows their own tradition and culture.

Best actor Amitabh Bachchan may not accept Filmfare awards this year

February 28, 2010 By: Kamrul Category: Amitabh Bachchan

A cold war is going on between Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan and tabloid newspaper. Because of this fact, Amitabh Bachchan has boycotted the most prestigious ceremony Filmfare awards, which was organizing its 55th ceremony this year. The 66-year-old actor was nominated as the best male actor for his movie “Paa” where he acted along with his son Abhishek Bachchan. It is thought that Amitabh Bachchan may not accept this award. Both Bachchans stayed out from this function. I think you already know that why they boycotted the award ceremony after Mumbai Mirror published news related about Bachchans. They wrote that Abhishek’s wife, former Miss World Aishwarya Rai could not give birth to baby. This year “Paa” won two awards. Its actress Vidya Balan won nominated as the best actress.
