Why My Name is Khan Should not Get Oscar Award?
Shahrukh Khan is still the number one actor in Bollywood. He is now very busy with his upcoming movie My Name is Khan. He’s hoping that this movie that is going to be released in February, 2010 will be a very big BlockBuster hit in India and recently, he signed a promotional deal with Fox. Fox will distribute the movie both in India and worldwide. So, it seems to me that Shahrukh Khan and some of his fans have become too much excited and they’re dreaming for Oscar awards. It is true that My Name is Khan is based on a true story but I never felt that Shahrukh Khan or Kajol are that much talented to win Oscar by competing against Hollywood.
I have seen the lineup of the movie and frankly, I do not think that any of them deserve any award in Oscar. Of course, I know that this kind of statement from will make many Bollywood pretty angry with me but they should look at the reality instead of having fancy dreams. Still, Bollywood movies are Way behind in Hollywood in every aspect.

Shahrukh khan is the best among hollywood actors as well!!!. What type of hollywood movies are you talking about??. Just have sex with 2-3 females in one movie and you will get oscar award!!. Slumdog millionare got oscar only becuse of english director and they showed the India as a very poor country and these english liked it very much!!. There are more good stories than this already made in bollywood and considered as average.
Shahrukh Khan should have got oscar award for DDLJ! and A .R Rahman should have got oscar in his early days itself for the soul stirring songs in TAAAL, ROJA, BOMBAY etc….

Why SRK can’t win an oscar? Just because he’s not from Hollywood. While he is not a brilliant actor, he has done some good work like in Swades.

i agree with the author,,, Sharukh Khan is probably the best when it comes to Bollywood Drama, but his still of acting and Kajol’s is not much for an interational quality,,, i see some consistency from SRK acting (that is almost the same), and for an International Star, i think i would go for Amir Khan… Indian films are so great to watch, but not for OScars… Sorry… I am a Bollywood Fan, dont get me wrong… PEACE…

ad post,,, for the first ever reply, those are out of America achievements,,, you know Britain bets for INDIA,,, and one problem i think with INDIAN films is that they never quit the LIP SYNC thing… one time your amazed with the voice of Aishwarya in The Guru, then you’ll know from the net that it’s Shreya Goshal… it would definitely be great if Bolywood stars sing using their own voices, and maybe they would be recognized greatly by OSCARS… but we might not know the future of MY NAME IS KHAN (? are there musical numbers in the movie), if it dont, i thik it would go far….

I agree with your statement upto an extent.. because.. Indian cinema is good for entertainment.. good for making a person stick to his seat for 160 mins and getting entertained.. and there ends the story..
But SRK always had a question in his mind ” why Indian cinema could’nt win an academy award??” Why Indians cannot imagine of portraying a Gigantic Monkey as ( king kong) a hero?? Why a harry potter is not born in India? Why a Titanic Ship does’nt collapse in Arabian Sea?? ”
And today he has taken a step ….
He stopped thinking why.. and started thinking how…
As every journey starts.. with a single step… My Name Is Khan is SRK’s first step.
And Just Imagine.. if the first step is successful.. (like getting an oscar for MNIK) then how the other steps would be? And how many steps will follow those steps..
Its all about.. the support… which we give.. and the love we shower on them… which matters a lot! After all.. what he is doing is for the sake of our country.. shining the name of Indian Cinema .. OVER SEAS!! And as far as I see and know… he is already in the job from past ten years.. and today he succeeded in bringing a lil bit of change in bolly wood.. and one day he will definitely do it!! Why Oscars are given such priorities? They should have ONE Global Awards for global actors to compete in entertainment!!! (But, then again, they too can get corrupt…..we live in a very corrupt lobbyist world…the worthy doesn’t get its worth!!!)
OSCARS are bias and cannot be measured for Global AWARDS!!! More money you spend and You get the award. The more influence you have the better it is!!!

MNIK is one of the best movies I’ve seen in years and the performance of both SRK and Kajol wipes out any hopes of competition from Hollywood A-listers… Oscars for both of them!!!

i hate My Name Is Khan… they hide the whole Asperger’s Syndrome in trailers… so the people would watch it… then by the time i saw the film, i really wanted to end it right away, what a waste… same acting as Hrithik Roshan in Koi Mil Gaya and Lakshya,, and ya a slight of Taare Zameen Pyar… i hate why Indian Films has to make a movie so ambitious and cant stand to it… but anyways, good thing there were no lipsynching going and musical numbers… thats the only consolation i got… still BIG NO to KAJOL… same acting (hyper-over acting again and again), i hoped it was Rani or Aishwarya…
