American Idol and ‘Nothing but Nets’

April 24, 2007 By: admin Category: American Idol

‘Nothing but Nets’ is the message of this week’s American Idol. ‘Nothing but Nets’ is a humanitarian program to provide nets to the poor people of the third world so that they can fight against mosquitoes. This charity activity will get a lot of exposure in American Idol just after few hours.

Christian Post wrote:

As part of a two-night special “Idol Gives Back” charity fundraising event, the United Methodist-supported anti-malaria initiative will be among the charities featured on the ultra-successful TV singing talent show which reaches about 26 million U.S. viewers each episode and is watched in about 150 other countries, according to the United Methodist News Service.

“It really is this blending of secular and sacred and, as that continues to unfold in exciting ways, it gives us more and more possibilities to prevent a disease that prevents a child from having a long, sustained, fruitful life,” said Bishop Thomas Bickerton, president of United Methodist Commission on Communication, in a statement.

……………………………….

Each vote cast by viewers by text or phone after the Tuesday show will convert to a donation to charities by the corporate sponsors of “Idol” – Ford, Coca-Cola, AT&T and News Corp which owns the Fox TV network, according to Reuters.

That will be a lol of money. I just wish that other TV programs also raise money for this cause. It will help many poor people in the world.

American Idol with Ellen DeGeneres

April 24, 2007 By: admin Category: American Idol

Ellen DeGeneres will become 50 years old next year and age is only making her more skilled and popular. She is not only a great actress but also a great host too. She was the host of 79th Academy Awards (2007). She will be your host in this week’s episode of American Idol.

Actress Achieves reported:

Every Wednesday, someone gets kicked off of American Idol and this week’s results show will be very different. As sixth place is decided between Phil Stacey, Lakisha Jones, Chris Richardson, Melinda Doolittle, Jordin Sparks, and Blake Lewis, America will be giving back to relief programs for children and young people in extreme poverty. The show, hosted by Ellen DeGenerers will include performances from not just the Idol stage, but from the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Ryan Seacrest will still take hosting gigs on the American Idol stage with Ellen DeGeneres on the other one. “Idol Gives Back” will air on Fox tomorrow night from 8-10pm.

Bono will actually meet with Phil Stacey, Lakisha Jones, Chris Richardson, Melinda Doolittle, Jordin Sparks, and Blake Lewis and discuss the work of ONE: The Campaign to Make Poverty History and ask the audience to help. The contestants from American Idol 6 will even sing a song written for the event by Bono and Dave Stewart (of the Eurythmics) about the AIDS crisis in Africa called “American Prayer.”

The show will take place after few hours. Ellen DeGeneres is a great host and I am happy that someone will overshadow Simon Cowell at least for a week in American Idol.

American Idol: 3 things Simon Cowell from African Children

April 24, 2007 By: admin Category: American Idol

Simon Cowell is the most famous judge in American Idol. He is very straight forward and this season, his favorite work was to say bad things about Sanjaya Malakar. Now, Sanjaya is out of American Idol. So, Simon Cowell will have a tough time for the rest of the season.

American Idol producers sent Simon Cowell to give some gifts to African children so that these children can study. This is purely a publicity stunt for Simon Cowell. Simon Cowell is a very rich man and he is not famous for his charity works like some of the celebrities in the world. So, what can he learn from children? Here are 3 things:

1. He can learn politeness. He lacks it too much.

2. Simon Cowell can learn humility from African children.

3. Simon Cowell can learn self satisfaction from the African children. These children are not millionaire like him but they are happy.

Virginia Tech and American Idol: Poetic Justice for Simon Cowell?

April 20, 2007 By: admin Category: American Idol

People not just only in USA but in the whole world are now mourning for the victims of the massacre of Virginia Tech. This is something that has united the whole of humanity and we all are sad. So, there is little wonder that American Idol organizers are going through a PR nightmare about the incident involving American Idol judge Simon Cowell. American Idol organizers and Simon Cowell are trying to minimize the damage but many people are not satisfied yet.

Stuff reported:

The judge was caught on camera making a face at fellow judge Paula Abdul when contestant Chris Richardson interrupted Simon’s critique of his “nasal-y” singing to pay tribute to those killed in the horrific campus shooting, in which 33 people died.

Simon told American Idol host Ryan Seacrest on his radio show: “We must address this crazy story that appeared that I rolled my eyes disrespectfully at Chris because he made the comment.

“The truth is that I had switched off at that point. I was saying to Paula, ‘What does he mean he was singing nasal-y on purpose?’ I didn’t understand what he was saying.

American Idol has shown the detailed video and it is true that we cannot blame Simon Cowell and it is also true that he did not show any disrespect towards the victims of Virginia Tech.

What is funny is that Simon Cowell always say bad things to some of the contestants and gets away because he is a judge. In this season of American Idol, his target was Sanjaya Malakar and Simon is successful at last to get rid of Sanjaya. Many people disliked the way Simon treated Sanjaya. Now, many people are angry with Simon Cowell over the allegation of rolling eyes about Virginia Tech victims. Simon has to try a lot to end this. I guess that now he can touch how it is like to be criticized.

American Idol: Haley Scarnato vs Jennifer Lopez

April 15, 2007 By: admin Category: American Idol

This time, you wil have to see American Idol without Haley Scarnato. Her long sexy and beautiful legs failed to impress Simon Cowell and that was the end of the road for Haley Scarnato as most of the fans were influenced by Simon’s negative comment.

American Idol is a democratic program and I have nothing to say about the vote of the fans. They are paying the money and sending their votes. So, they have every right to vote for anyone they like.

What is so amazing to me was a matter that in the last episode of American Idol Jennifer Lopez was the mentors for the contestants. Jennifer Lopez Is famous for her sexy looks. Most of the time when we can see Jennifer Lopez in the media, Jennifer Lopez is wearing shot dress. Her legs are surely more visible than the legs of Haley Scarnato. So, what is the fuss about the legs of Haley Scarnato? Did Simon Cowell Forget that Jennifer Lopez is one of the hottest and sexiest singers in America? So, what is wrong with Showing legs in American Idol?

This is the hypocrisy of people like Simon Cowell. They’re happy to see The long legs of Jennifer Lopez but they cannot tolerate when Haley Scarnato wear short dress.

Haley Scarnato: What Went Wrong in American Idol?

April 14, 2007 By: admin Category: American Idol

Haley Scarnato is history now in American Idol. I cannot think of any other contestant generating so much media hype in American Idol like Haley Scarnato. She is beautiful and her voice is not that bad but still she could not survive. So, what went wrong with her? I think that the following things went wrong with her.

1. Wearing short dress is not a bad idea in American Idol. I mean, it is perfectly all right in American media to be portrayed as a sexy woman. The problem is that Haley Scarnato took it too far.

2. When Simon Cowell commented negatively about her dress up she should have been on the offensive instead of being silent. She should have told that many Americans dress the way she did.

3. Haley Scarnato should have given a bit more effort for singing the Latino song. Perhaps, she was over confident about her looks.

Haley Scarnato did some mistakes and the other American contestants should learn from her mistake.

American Idol: Phil Stacey to go Next?

April 14, 2007 By: admin Category: American Idol

Phil Stacey had a close call in American Idol this week. He was lucky to survive this week. He was one of the bottom 3 contestants. Phil Stacey is in the bottom 3 for the last 3 weeks continuously.

Phil Stacey has religious background and I suppose that many devoted religious persons are voting for him.

Christian Post reported:

Stacey, a minister of music at First Coast Christian in Jacksonville, Fla., has been walking on thin ice this season, and had his third week in a row among the lowest vote tallies, four times all together.

“I feel good to be here,” the Florida Christian told host Ryan Seascrest on the program. “I’m blessed.”

Stacey, who performed the song “Maria Maria,” received mixed signals from the three judges on Tuesday night after his live piece.

“Vocally I thought, with the exception at the end there, it was a real good vocal” critiqued 90s star Paula Abdul. “You turned out a really good vocal.”

Gospel Music Association (GMA) is behind Phil Stacey and thus Phil Stacey has some solid votes coming to his way. Now, we need to see if that is enough to save him in the next episode of American Idol. Phil Stacey is one of the top 7 contestants in American Idol this year. Can he become one of the top 6 contestants?

Haley Scarnato: Short Dress vs Choir Robe

April 14, 2007 By: admin Category: American Idol

Haley Scarnato is no longer in American Idol. She got booted this Wednesday and many people thought that her wearing short dress brought disaster for her. One of the judges, Simon Cowell, did not like her dress and many voters agreed with this matter.

The irony is that Haley Scarnato planned to wear choir robe in the next episode of American Idol. It does not matter anymore as she is already out of American Idol 2007. So, she cannot wear choir robe anymore.

Reality TV Magazine wrote:

When asked how she would adjust and correct her performances based on the judges conflicting advice, Haley jokingly said, “If I was still going to be here next week, I was going to wear a choir robe. I was going to be fully clothed. You just take it for what it’s worth and just try to brush it off, and just know that you still have to perform. I felt good about it, so I’m okay with it.”

I am not a fan of short dress but I cannot understand the fuss about the dress up of Haley Scarnato. Yes, her dress was short but it was not indecent. I mean, what she wore was nothing uncommon in American TV.

I wonder what the other female contestants would do now? They should be careful about their dress up. The male contestants should not feel too much relaxed either.

Haley Sacranto: 0 voice but 100 lusty legs

April 14, 2007 By: admin Category: American Idol

American Idol Haley Scarnato may not have a good voice but what her voice lacks her luscious body makes it up for her. Last week, this sexy singer with her terrible voice sang “Turn the beat around” wearing short dresses. And the result was inevitable. She was voted off. Newsday reports:

The San Antonio wedding singer, 24, who has relied heavily on her good looks, long, shapely legs and a decreasing amount of clothing to attract voters, had been harshly critiqued by the judges the past few weeks. After her performance of “Turn the Beat Around,” for which she wore hot pants and a transparent zebra-print blouse over a bustier, judge Simon Cowell told her, “I think you have a very good tactic at the moment, Haley: Wear the least amount of clothes as possible. … You can’t do well in this competition based on your voice, because there are much better singers.”

I think, Haley Scarnato missed American Idol for beauty contest.

American Idol: Haley Scarnato Miss Legs

April 13, 2007 By: admin Category: American Idol

Do you know the beauty contests in which they have different kind of awards? I guess that there is one for a beautiful woman who has long and sexy legs. Unfortunately, in American Idol, they do not have this category of giving award to someone for long and sexy legs. Poor Haley Scarnato. She really has long and sexy legs but it did not help her in American Idol. Instead, her legs caused her out of the American Idol.

No problem, Haley Scarnato has been called as Miss Legs by someone. May be more people will call her by this name: Miss Legs.

The New Straits Times wrote:

When you pit a bald guy and a young lady whose legs seem to go on forever, the situation becomes a bit dicey. Suddenly, it doesn’t seem to be a singing contest anymore. No wonder, Simon passed that socially incorrect remark about Haley.

He said: “You have a very good tactic. Wear the least amount as possible.” I thought it was one of the rudest comments ever to come out of Simon’s mouth. I know his career thrives on being painfully honest and tactless but that was one of those times when I couldn’t help but cringed.

There was simply no earthly excuse to hurt a contestant’s feelings that way. At this stage of the competition, it was unnecessary and downright insensitive. Simon should apologise to Haley without reservations.

Off-hand, don’t you think Haley look just dandy in those hot pants? My sister punched me in the shoulder when I unconsciously blurted out: “Can’t sing for a glass of hot barley but she’s good for another week!” I just lost my bet and now have to take her to that restaurant that sells claypot loh she fun.

So, Miss Legs should be happy now.
