Shah Rukh Khan will dance naked: Was it joke or real?

April 07, 2010 By: Kamrul Category: Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan is not satisfied with the performance of his club Kolkata Knight Riders in the on going IPL 2010. To encourage his cricket club, he said that he would dance naked if his team wins this year’s IPL title. This statement was blown out of proportion of media. No doubt, it shocked the fans. However, Shah Rukh Khan said that it was just a joke. He wrote on his Twitter page, “Read in some paper that I can be taken to court for my dancing in the buff statement at IPL. When will people develop a sense of humour”.

Despite being a strong club in IPL, Kolkata Knight Riders could not play well in the last two editions. Even their performance in the ongoing tournament is not good. This team has very little possibility to move into the semi-final round. What Shah Rukh Khan will do if Kolkata Knight Riders wins the title?

Some of his fans have started saying that their superstar has been out of mind only thinking about his spending money in IPL.

Ageless Warriors of Bollywood: It will affect?

April 04, 2010 By: Kamrul Category: Bollywood

Age is very important factor for both movie stars and cricket players. They start their career early and take retirement after one or half decade. But IPL has shown different things. It is said that this domestic cricket league has made connection between two worlds- Bollywood and IPL.

If you look at the Bollywood, you can see some ageless warriors like- Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgan, Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar, are still doing so well for themselves. Same can be said about cricket players like Sachin Tendulkar, Muralitharan and Adam Gilchrist.

Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan have already crossed 40. At this age, they have been appeared as young as they were in the past. For them, 40 seem to be the new 20.

Sachin Tendulkar, Muralitharan and Adam Gilchrist are 35 plus. But it is very difficult to guess how old they are when they play in IPL. It will be interesting to see how long they can play cricket.

Amitabh Bachchan, who has already turned 60 up, is still a strong actor in Bollywood. He has been leading Hindi film industry for four decades. Now, he is at the pick of his career. He has no plan to take retirement.

However, I am worried thinking about the future condition of Hindi film industry. We can see the shortage of new face in Bollywood. Even producers do not want to take risk by casting new actor. I hope that these ageless actors will introduce more new faces as their successor. Otherwise, Hindi film industry will be destroyed.

Kareena Kapoor turned down lucrative TV show offer

April 01, 2010 By: Kamrul Category: Kareena kapoor

Kareena Kapoor is perhaps one of the busiest actresses in Bollywood. Because of her business and packed schedule, she denied a lucrative offer approached by a TV channel. She denied the offer to star in her very own show on the small screen titled ‘Main Kareena Kapoor Banna Chahti Hoon’. It is not the first time she has been offered a television show. In the past, she was offered too but she hadn’t bitten the bait.

Bollywood queen is busy with films and endorsements. She has no time for television. Perhaps she will consider television after a year-and-a-half or two.

This year seven of her movies will be released. Now, she is busy with ‘Ra1’ film. After that, she will be working in ‘Golmaal 3’, ‘Agent Vinod’ with Saif Ali Khan. She has been cast along with Madhur Bhandarkar in an untitled film.

Kareena Kapoor would have to travel the whole India to communicate with Bollywood candidates if she had accepted the offer.

Most of the top stars in Bollywood have shifted to small screens. May be, Kareena Kapoor will follow their foot steps.

IPL will kill Bollywood: What is the solution?

March 31, 2010 By: Kamrul Category: Bollywood

Recently, five movies got released and neither of them got success. The only reason is IPL. Cricket crazy people show less interest about the new released movies. It creates bitter feeling in the mind of Bollywood producers. There is no doubt that Bollywood producers are not happy with the Indian domestic cricket league IPL. During the time of IPL, no Hindi movie runs well in the cinema theatre. It seems a big risk to release a big budget film during the IPL. However, low and medium budget films release is halted. The increasing popularity of IPL in India has become a big threat for Hindi film industry. If it continues then Indian government will lose huge revenue every year. Cinema hall owners are now watching IPL matches in a big screen. One of the most argumentative matters is that IPL matches are played from 4 pm to 11pm. There are very few slots for the Bollywood movies to make good run at the cinema theatres.

I hope that both Bollywood and IPL will come into a conversation and fix this problem.

Piracy will reduce job opportunity and revenue in India

March 20, 2010 By: Kamrul Category: Bollywood

It seems that Indian film and TV industry will have to fight against piracy. Piracy has caused a big threat for this country. If Indian government does not take any necessary steps then in the near future we can see that it will have to struggle hard for survive. Indian film and TV industry has great contribution to its economy. It has created nearly 1.8 million jobs and contributed $6.2 billion to its economy in 2008. According to a report `Economic Contribution of Indian Film and Television Industry’ by PricewaterhouseCoopers, it has been said that the film industry was in fact considerably impacted by online piracy. You should know that Indian film industry could not earn $959 million only for piracy. Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) chairman Dan Glickman said that if industry offers people product at reasonable price in a hassle free manner then people will not steal. In this way piracy will be stopped.

Motion Picture Distributors Association has undertaken a research study among the top ten countries in the world where it is seen that online piracy is high. Most of the people download movies or cinemas through online. Telugu and Tamil films are also most downloaded topics. Not only that but also cam is used to copy the film in theatres. It is the common use of piracy.

However, if piracy is not reduced then many people will loss job and Indian film and TV industry will contribute less amount of money to the Indian economy. No doubt, Indian government will suffer a lot if they failed to stop piracy.
