April 27, 2007 By: admin Category: Bollywood, Shilpa Shetty

Shilpa Shetty will marry within a year. The news was confirmed by her mother Sunanda Shetty. Recently Shilpa Shetty went to her village home in Mudalaadi, Karnataka in order to take part in the traditional ritual, Kola, seeking blessings for her as well as her family. Shilpa Shetty has recently won a reality TV show UK Big Brother. Shilpa Shetty’s mother has recently said that Shilpa Shetty will marry within a year. Rediff News reported:

Dressed in a yellow churidar, the actress sat silently through the ritual through the night while her mother asked about her daughter’s marriage prospects.

She was assured that Shilpa would not have any problems in that respect and that marriage would take place within one year. She was also assured that the current situation with Gere would be sorted out.

During her three-day stay at the village, which created a flutter in the sleepy village, the actress took part in the poojas and also caught up with her relatives, conversing with them in native Tulu.

Shilpa Shetty has created a huge furor in India for her kissing with Richard Gere, a Hollywood actor. The incident happened in a function organized for increasing awareness regarding HIV/AIDS. Recently, it has been reported that Jaipur court of India issued arrest warrant to both the actors over the matter.

Richared Gere Doesn’t Bother to the Arrest Warrant of the Court

Richard Gere does not bother to the arrest order of himself sent by the Jaipur court of India for his kissing scandal to Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. In the last week, Gere kissed Shilpa Shetty at an event promoting awareness for HIV/AIDS. He kissed on her cheek which flicked a lot of protests in India. However, Mr. Gere said that he did not do anything which can cause such warrant to him. RTE Entertainment reported:

In an interview on Comedy Central’s ‘The Daily Show With Jon Stewart’, he said “Me kissing the girl on the cheek was nothing.”

He dismissed the charge, saying “There is a very small right-wing, very conservative political party in India and they are the moral police in India … they do this kind of thing quite often.”

“It goes to a reputable court and it gets thrown out,” he continued.

I think Richard Gere does not have any idea regarding the Indian culture. In India open kissing is regarded as obscenity and the country posses some law regarding obscenity. The court has issued warrant to the two actors for breaking the obscenity law of India.

Court Sends Summon to Richard Gere and Shilpa Shetty Asking Them to Present in the Court Over the Kissing Incident

Richard Gere and his kissing to Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty is now the hot news in India. Earlier this month, Richard Gere gave a consensual kiss to Shilpa Shetty at an event organized for HIV/AIDS awareness among the people. The incident created a flurry of protests in India and Jaipur court of India has sent summon to both the star asking for their presence in the court over the matter. Law Fuel reported:

The actress had been issued summons by the court which asked her to present herself on May 5. However, her spokesmen have denied that any such summons was issued.

Also, and arrest warrant has been issued against actor Richard Gere by the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Jaipur. Gere has so far refused to comment on the issue, Times NowTV reports.

The incident, in New Delhi earlier this month when Richard Gere kissed Shilpa Shetty on the cheeks in good humour at a charity event promoting AIDS awareness, created a huge furore. The two have been charged of obscenity in public under 294 IPC.

The magistrate, Dinesh Gupta, reacting to a private complaint filed by advocate Poonam Chand Bhandari, watched a CD of the AIDS awareness function as shown by a TV channel, to pronounce that the act was “sexually erotic” and “indecent”.

Kissing publicly is not allowed in Indian culture which is a very common thing in Hollywood. So, Mr. Gere might have not any idea about the sensitive matter. Now, it is yet to see to what extent the two actors would cost for the kissing incident.

Richard Gere Apologizes for His Kissing to Shilpa Shetty on Public

Hollywood actor Richard Gere has recently apologized to the people of India for his on stage kissing to Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. The incident occurred in an event arranged for increasing awareness against HIV/AIDS. Soon after the public kissing, the whole India protested against it as the incident does not go with Indian culture.

The issue even has already taken in to the court and recently the court of Jaipur issued summons of arrest warrant for both Richard Gere and Shilpa Sheety for breaking obscenity law in India. Having seen such a storm over the incident, Richard Gere has recently apologized for the incident. ABC News reported:

“What is most important to me is that my intentions as an HIV/AIDS advocate be made clear, and that my friends in India understand that it has never been, nor could it ever be, my intention to offend you,” Gere said in statement issued by the Heroes Project, an organization the 57-year-old actor co-founded to combat AIDS in India.

“If that has happened, of course it is easy for me to offer a sincere apology,” he said.

The embrace, in front of about 4,000 truckers, was a failed parody of a move from Gere’s film “Shall We Dance,” and “a naive misread of Indian customs,” he said.

In Indian culture, open kissing is not allowed and they do not even like to disclose their private affair in public. Richard Gere might not have known about the Indian culture. However, one should have an overall idea regarding the culture of a county before doing anything sensitive in the county.
