Listening to the music album you can feel that Samar Khan’s second movie Shaurya, is not one of those typical Bollywood movies depicting Indian army’s undauntable patriotism and fighting spirit while fighting their ARCHENEMY Pakistan. The movie is different from the other movies of its genre. There are six songs in the album.

This is a like a speech explaining the meaning of the word “Shaurya.” Since, it is a movie about the army, listeners should expect a voice that exerts strength, and strong will; kind of “Angry Man” Amitabh Bachchan voice but Shah Rukh gives an entirely different treatment to this speech. His voice sounds like an ordinary day to day person but infuses more thoughtfulness in between the lines.

Dheere Dheere

Singer: Sunidhi Chauhan, Adnan Sami

It is a soft romantic song. No loud music, no catchy rhythm, very simple and serene and this is what makes the song very appealing. It reminded me of ‘Palkein Jhukaao Na’ from Sehar (2005). This song has the same feature. Adnan Sami, and Sunidhi Chauhan did a great job. I am used to hearing Sunidhi’s voice in disco, hip-hop track and high pitched tracks. This song is not high pitched but Sunidhi’s voice creates the ideal romantic environment. This is the kind of song that you would like to hear time and time again.

Dosti Kya Hai

Singer: Udit Narayan, Abhijeet

This song is picturized on Rahul Bose and Javed Khan celebrating their friendship in the movie. In Bollywood, these kinds of songs have very light tune. The music generally creates a sense of fun and comic. However, this is an exceptional track. Instead of giving hunky dory type of tune, Adnan makes the music rock based with electric guitar tunes and drumbeats. Experienced singers like Udit Narayan and Abhijeet carried out the song beautifully. The music will evoke an emotional feeling about friendship.

Ghabra ke Dar Dar Ke

Singer: Sunidhi Chauhan, Adnan Sami

The song may not be enjoyable when you are watching the movie but it is an ideal song to play in bars and pubs. Sunidhi once again creates magic with her voice. The lyrics is very energizing. The over all techno beat adds up to the flavor and mood of the song.

Jaane Kyun Jaaneman

Singer: Sunidhi Chauhan

The second item song of the movie. The prelude would give you a feeling of the 70’s ‘Saturday Night Fever’ but a bit more fast paced. The song will immediately make you tap your feet and shake your head. A catchy number, good to hear and the music is groovy. Once again, Sunidhi Chauhan proves that she is made to sing these types of songs.

Shaurya

Singer: Kunal Ganjawala

Remember, Tom Cruise’s Top Gun soundtrack sound track “Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggins or Lakshya’s ‘Lakshya’ by Shankar Mahadevan? This song has the same features. A motivational song with hard hitting lyrics describing toughness and fighting spirit, the rock music will instantly energize you. When you are exercising, this type of music will boost up your energy.

Overall, Adnan Sami has presented us with some good music. My personal favorites are- Dheere Dheere, Jaane Kyun Jaaneman, Shaurya Kya Hai, and Shaurya.

Rahul Bose is a good actor but he is not yet a big star in Bollywood. Well, as far as I know, he is a composed man and there is hardly any scandal about him. So, when I saw this report: Rahul Bose storms out of Shaurya’s event, I got a bit confused. Well, then I realized that it was a rumor and you know that many people love to hear saucy rumors about actors and actresses. From the report I am quoting here:

When Rahul learnt about that they had not paid for the use of the place, he stormed out. Says Rahul, “There was some confusion on which floor we would be shooting. I was a bit irritated that things kept going back and forth. But there definitely wasn’t any drama. I came back 20 minutes later and finished my scheduled interview.”

There are not too many days before the release of Shaurya. Now, there are several promos of Shaurya and they have created a lot of sensation among many people. It seems that some significant amount of credit goes to Minissha Lamba. She is pretty and in the promos of Shaurya, Minissha Lamba looks even more beautiful. Rahul Bose is also featured in the videos and he is perhaps the main attraction of the movie.
Let us see how Shaurya fares in the box office. I would like to see who gets more attention from the movie: Rahul Bose or Minissha Lamba?

Shaurya is going to be in the cinema halls within a few weeks. It is a film on patriotism. Minissha Lamba thinks that there is more than just flags in the film. Q.: Have you ever done anything that proves your Shaurya?

A.: See, Shaurya never means that you just show off the flag of what you have done. Even everyday in and out, we face several such situations where we have chances to protest against all odds. For example, if you travel in buses, you may witness someone teasing any lady or someone can tease you too. If you have the true courage, you can protest there. That will be your “Shourya”.

Q.: Please tell us about your character in the film Shaurya.

A.: In Shaurya, I am playing the role of Kavya Shastri, who is a war reporter. She takes the risk of her life for collecting news from the war front. It’s a very important character for me as with this character, I can fulfill my childhood dream of becoming a war reporter, at least in my reel life, if not in reality.

Minissha Lamba should not lose her dream of becoming a reporter. After all, she will not stay in Bollywood forever. After 5-10 years, she can easily join a TV channel or a newspaper. These days, TV reporters have a lot of fame and some money too.

Javed Akhtar is one of the finest lyricists in Bollywood. He has written some beautiful movie songs and he is also a popular figure as an Indian Idol judge. There is something special about Javed Akhter. Now, his fans have the chance to be thrilled with the songs of Shaurya. If you are a fan of Javed Akhtar then you should listen to the music of Shaurya. The director of this movie has nothing but praise for Javed Akhtar.

‘Javed Akhtar is young at heart’- Samar Khan!

All day, a monumental upset had been on the cards as Shaurya got out his season’s best game against the much-experienced Harmeet Kahlon.”

Samar khan was a journalist who turned into film making. Three years ago he made his debut with Kuch Meetha Ho Jaaye, a romantic movie. Now, he is making his second movie, Shaurya. It is a movie about the army men. Normally, army movies are related to India-Pakistan war issue. This movie is different. It is not related to war but a different kind of struggle; the struggle for truth and justice. The story revolves around an army officer who is facing a court martial. Two defense lawyers, a war reporter and general are involved in this story. Samar spent few years in National Defense Academy.

As you all know by this time Shah Rukh Khan rendered his voice as a poet in this movie. Shah Rukh Khan is Samar’s “good-luck charm.” In his first movie, Shah Rukh Khan made a special appearance. Samar told his story writer, Jaydeep Sarkar, to write a poem containing the essence of the movie.

Reveals Samar, “I wanted my writer Jaideep Sarkar to write a theme poem that describes my film’s mood. He came up with Shaurya kya hai. The poem captures the essence of my film. Namely, the biases and prejudices prevalent in our society which tend to isolate and persecute communities and individuals. Jaideep’s lines were extraordinarily lucid. I needed a voice and a presence that could make those lines weighty and still accessible to the man in the remotest corner of the audience.”

Samar flew down to Goa to speak to SRK about the poem. “Shah Rukh of course being Shah Rukh agreed immediately. He wanted to record the poem on his laptop then and there. But I wanted him to do it properly in a studio.”

This poem has been included in the music album. Adnan Sami, the music director has given a musical interpretation of the Shah Rukh’s poem.

So far, Samar is very happy with all his actors. Kay Kay Menon, Rahul Bose, Minissha Lamba, all of them have worked very hard for the movie.

Javed Jaffrey, with the mention of this name, the first thing that comes to my mind is the host of Boogie Woogie dance show of Sony television who crack funny jokes. I think most of the Hindi movie goers have the same idea about this talented actor and dancer. He has become typecast in Hindi movies. His comic performances in Salaam Namaste, Dhamaal made him very popular. Well, every body needs a change and that includes Javed. In Shaurya, he does not do any funny character but a serious character. Glamsham reports:

Ever since his ‘aigzactly’ performance in SALAAM NAMASTE, Javed Jaffrey has been seen in a different light. That of a whacky, over the top guy, who has a knack for comedy. Though he fought it off in his next release TA RA RUM PUM, he was still loved more when he performed as a 10 year old boy trapped in a man’s body in Indra Kumar’s DHAMAAL.

However, the actor is continuing to explore different horizons and one such movie that should project him in an altogether different light is SHAURYA. In a film which has absolutely no scope of Jaffrey turning over to buffoonery, SHAURYA features him as an Army man.

Javed played the character of Aakash Kapoor, an ambitious army lawyer. His father was also a reputed army lawyer. An ambitious practical lawyer, Javed has two people very close to him: his friend, Major Siddharth and fiancé Nandini.
